Not all pain is the same. So why treat it that way?
Â
Our pain systems are made up of multiple components, each with lots of different sensory inputs - and our brains sift through all this information to decide whether or not we're in danger.
When we experience injury or pain, it's possible to become stuck in a cycle of discomfort and tension if one of those components is out of balance and our brain continues to perceive danger, long after the original threat has passed.
By identifying which area of our pain system is activated, we can target it more effectively, instead of using a one-size-fits all approach.Â
Start by understanding your back pain
Â
When you understand what's truly causing your back pain, it will become clear why some treatments work for you, and some don't. And why some things trigger your pain, and some make it feel better.
What's more, studies show that just by learning about your pain system, you can reduce how much pain you feel! This is especially true if your pain has lasted longer than 3 months.
I've developed a science based assessment to quickly help you identify your pain type so that you can get personalised tools and guidance towards long term pain relief.
You don’t have to just “live with it"
Â
Being in pain can feel worrying, overwhelming and sometimes even scary. Not to mention how it can affect your enjoyment of day-to-day-life and add significant emotional and physical strain.
As women, we often shoulder a lot of extra responsibilities on top of dealing with things like hormone cycles, pregnancy, childbirth and menopause which all impact our pain system in a unique way.
You deserve to feel supported with a clear path to becoming pain free, so you can enjoy yourself, get back to your favourite activities and spend time with loved ones without worrying about flare ups or managing symptoms.
“Just understanding how pain works can help reduce it.”
Research shows that when women learn what’s really happening in their pain system, they often feel significantly less pain. Why not pair that with expert backed advice and tools to address the underlying causes of your discomfort?

Hi, I'm Katie-Jean, Msc and accredited pain specialist.
Â
I'm Sport Scientist and former elite gymnast, but more importantly - I’m someone who’s been through long-term pain that no doctor could make sense of.
Like many women, my back pain worsened during Covid and lockdown when access to care disappeared. Despite spending thousands every year on physio and specialist appointments, I was getting nowhere and my pain was so intense I was often bed ridden and unable to move for weeks at a time. Time and again my pain wasn’t taken seriously or listened to. I felt completely trapped. Eventually, I had to take two years off work, and there were moments I truly believed I might never get my life back.
So I turned to what I knew: science. Using the skills from my MSc, I dove deep into studies on women’s health and the pain system. What I found changed everything. I developed a nervous system-first method to retrain my body's response to pain, and in just six weeks I went from daily 8/10 pain to 2/10. I haven’t had a flare-up in over seven months and often have zero pain days. I have been able to enjoy holidays, spend hours gardening, commit to social events and start building confidence and trust in my body.
Now, I help other women do the same. Because too often, our pain is misunderstood or dismissed, yet we know when something isn’t right. Things can quickly snowball if pain isn't dealt with which can leave us in a scary place. My mission is to help you trust your body, understand what’s really going on, and finally get the support you deserve.
